Readout rebalancing for near-term quantum computers

چکیده
Readout errors are a significant source of noise for near term intermediate scale quantum computers. Mismeasuring qubit as 1 when it should be 0 occurs much less often than mismeasuring have been 1. We make the simple observation that one can improve readout fidelity computers by applying targeted X gates prior to performing measurement. These placed so expected number qubits in state is minimized. Classical post processing undo effect expectation value any observable unchanged. show statistical uncertainty following error corrections smaller using rebalancing. The advantage circuit- and computer-dependent, demonstrated $W$ state, Grover search, Gaussian state. benefit precision most pronounced (and nearly factor two some cases) states with many excited high probability.

متن کاملAnalog readout for optical reservoir computers
Reservoir computing is a new, powerful and flexible machine learning technique that is easily implemented in hardware. Recently, by using a timemultiplexed architecture, hardware reservoir computers have reached performance comparable to digital implementations. Operating speeds allowing for real time information operation have been reached using optoelectronic systems. At present the main perf...
متن کاملSpin–dependent recombination – an electronic readout mechanism for solid state quantum computers
It is shown that coherent spin motion of electron–hole pairs localized in band gap states of silicon can influence charge carrier recombination. Based on this effect, a readout concept for silicon based solid–state spin–quantum computers as proposed by Kane is suggested. The P quantum bit (qbit) is connected via hyperfine coupling to the spin of the localized donor electron. When a second local...
متن کاملAlgorithms for Quantum Computers
Quantum computing is a new computational paradigm created by reformulating information and computation in a quantum mechanical framework [30, 27]. Since the laws of physics appear to be quantum mechanical, this is the most relevant framework to consider when considering the fundamental limitations of information processing. Furthermore, in recent decades we have seen a major shift from just obs...
متن کاملUsing Quantum Computers for Quantum Simulation
Numerical simulation of quantum systems is crucial to further our understanding of natural phenomena. Many systems of key interest and importance, in areas such as superconducting materials and quantum chemistry, are thought to be described by models which we cannot solve with sufficient accuracy, neither analytically nor numerically with classical computers. Using a quantum computer to simulat...
